'Workdesk Wednesday' watercolour painting

This morning's (unfinished) play...for WOYWWW!
My little grand daughter Hope has been telling me stories on Sunday mornings when she comes to stay over. I have been writing them down and decided it is time I started to illustrate them and make them into a book for her.

Here is the first in a story about "The Princess and the Pie". The princess has baked a cake and while it was cooling it flew away to Pieland! I'm really pleased to have found a local painting group where I can sit and paint with them on a Wednesday morning...and hopefully will eventually get this book done for Hope. I'm hoping to use different media for each story. This is plain old watercolour. Not finished yet

If you want to join in the fun at 'What's on your workdesk Wednesday' here is the link to Julia's blog
I would SO love to have one of the grabby buttons on my sidebar but I have NO idea how to do it!!!!

Other news.....from yesterday
I was inspired by Helen to re-visit leaf bashing with my gradchildren so here they are wearing ear defenders bashing the life out of the most glorious coloured leaves......I used temporart spray glue (505) to hold the leaves in place
WOW it was noisy but no fingers got bashed in the process...although they came painfully close!
The best bit is peeling off the leaves to see the result. The fabric should be mordanted first but I couldn't find the fabric I prepared a while ago....bother! oh well....the fun was in the bashing.....

I am enamored with your idea of illustrating the stories told to you by your grand daughter. What a wonderful, fabulous, incredible idea. Your painting is wonderful. I also love the leaf impressions. Might have to try that with my girls.

Hi Moira, Thank you for your comments about my boot stand. I have now looked at your blog and I LOVE the way you collect these bits of drift wood. I am exactly the same and my bits of wood and rock from all over the world are my 'cut glass and silver'!!
Your bird is just lovely. Going back to have another look at your blog now.
Looking forward to seeing more of your work. Julie

O Gosh - I Love the story and illustration! Looking forward to more. The kiddo's looked engrossed - not familiar with this technique so will have to do some googling. Thanks for the visit this morn:)

Gosh, your painting for the story is lovely. I have to say, I would have been the one getting her fingers bashed if I'd done that.... they look great.

Fabulous drawing your grand daughter is going to love it! Never heard of leaf bashing, but could be great fun! Do grab a WOYWW banner, just find one on any of us woywwer's side bars, save it to your computer (it might go straight to your desk top...I have files, where I save everything!) then just chose picture on your' add a gadget' and go back to where you saved the WOYWW picture and upload it and then put in Julia's (Stamping Ground) link OR, if there's a 'code'...paste and copy that and put that code in where it says JavaScript, but I find the first one easier!

Happy WOYWW!

Hi Moira
I love your idea. Isn't it what art is all about, making memories come to life. Your little grand daughter is lucky that you take so much trouble to preserve her imagination....

It is the best idea I have heard of for a long time.
Have a wonderful weekend
