Bunting production....!

I have been in full bunting production the last couple of days and this is the result...a totally chaotic studio but out of it I have made 9 strings of bunting and have more in various stages of production...the question is 'Will it sell?'

The bunting hanging up is made from small laminated pictures of cupcakes that I made ages ago from photos
I chained sewed the flags together which made for a speedy production line....I LOVE this stripey fabric...very beach-hutty!
Chain piecing......
I will eventually upload a really good little tutorial on bunting production but as it is Thursday, and I'm determined to join in the fun of 'My Creative Space' this is better than nothing. Here is the link

I started off by stringing the bunting one side at a time but decided to sew round each one in the end which seemed more sensible....I don't always DO sensible!
The WORST part is the turning through and poking out the ends of each flag. This fabric is very thick and impossible to get a really sharp end without risking sticking my blunt pencil straight through! They need to be pressed flat at this stage and then carefully trimmed with therotatry cutter to get a really neat, sharp top eadge
Many years ago, I bought several reels of white cotton tape and I am using it up at last...SO satisfying.....I ironed it in half with the steam iron......MILES of it......
and placed into a big vase to keep it in check while I was using it....this worked well and it didn't tangle....
Next, I tucked the top eadge of each flag into it as I sewed along the tape and it ended up looking really, REALLY neat!

I will be back eventually with proper instructions. See you soon!

PSI'm sorry I haven't had time to visit your blogs but I shall in the next few days...life is hectic at the moment since I stopped work....I work very hard and earn very little but in the end it will all work out....(fingers tightly crossed!)

wombatHave you tried using kite fabric for bunting? I've found it in Norwich in Magdalen Street Fashion Fabrics. It is like fine plastic, cuts easily, small range of colours, doesn't fray so no hemming, and takes permanent markers well and sews onto tape. I can send you some samples Moira, just email me.
